Details :
- BDS stands for Bachelor of Dental Surgery. It is a 5 years course (4 Years Study + 1 Year internship) after 10+2 and other equivalent qualification with Biology, Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects.
- BDS is the second most prioritized course after MBBS by PCB students. BDS is the study about the denture, mouth cancer, dental problems and surgery.
- Same as MBBS after completion of the BDS course, a student is eligible to prefix “Doctor” in his name.
- BDS course is a Undergraduate course it will follow the semester pattern. There will be 8 semesters, each of 6 months (4 Years) after that there will be a 1 year of internship
- Subjects such as Dental Anatomy, embryology and Oral Histology etc.., are taught in BDS.
- BDS in India is run by DCI (Dental Council of India). DCI grants permission to run BDS course for colleges and university and inspects those colleges every year and then permits the intake to the respective college or university.
Students should compulsory check whether the college / university they are willing to join is DCI approved or not, in case of not approved colleges the degree awarded by that college / university will not be valid
- In India for securing a seat in BDS, student must compulsory qualify in NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) which is a National Level entrance exam for MBBS / BDS. A student cannot pursue BDS under any quota if they do not qualify in NEET.
