Details :

  • B Sc. (Agriculture) stands for Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. It is a 4 years course (3 ½ Years Study + 6 Months RAWE programme) after 10+2 and other equivalent qualification with Biology, Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects.
  • Unlike any other B.Sc Degree which are 3 years, B.Sc Agriculture is a professional degree which is 4 years.
  • Though this course is available since many years but from past 4 , 5 years this course is in full demand due to the huge availability of Government and Private sector jobs B.Sc Agriculture graduates.
  • As India is Agriculture based country and our economy is mainly depended upon agriculture. Almost 70% of the population in India have agriculture as their occupation. So there should be timely improvements and innovations in the field of Agriculture.
  • Various agriculture methods, new techniques to improve the standards using technology, uses of modern fertilizers for improvements of crops etc.., are being taught in this course.

Duration :

  • B Sc. (Agriculture) is a 4 years course which is semester wise pattern so there are 8 semesters.
  • During the 7th Semester (4th year 1st semester) students has to complete their RAWE programme (Rural Agricultural Work Experience), wherein the student has to spend 6 months in a rural area to understand
    the rural situations, status of Agricultural technologies adopted by farmers, prioritize the farmers problems and to develop skills & attitude of working with farm families for all round development in rural areas.

Eligibility :

  • Age Limit : The minimum age to pursue B.Sc (Agriculture) is 17 years. Student has to be 17 years old, or should be attending 17 years by December 31st during the year of admission.
  • Qualification : Must have complete 10+2 or equivalent qualification with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects, and must obtain combined minimum 50% in these subjects. (40% for SC/ST).

Entrance Exam :

  • National Level Exam : National Level Exam for B Sc. Agriculture is AIEEA UG. There is 15 % seats in Agriculture universities are reserved for AIEEA Merit.

Scope of B. Sc. Agriculture:

  • B Sc. Agriculture course is in huge demand since past 5 years, as there are very good job opportunities for Agriculture graduates in Government and private sector.
  • It is estimated that by 2020 there will be around 60,000 job requirements in Agriculture sector, but as per the current situation there will be still 30,000 jobs vacant as there are not many agriculture graduates, so there is less competition as compared to other courses.
  • Students from south state like Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are migrating to other states in North and west to purse agriculture if they don’t get a seat in their respective states.
